Oral Presentation

My oral presentation (OP) was yesterday, 6th of November (My brother's birthday) at 10:30am...

So our OP started with Jasmine starting off with the "Imagine" thing.

Jasmine's presentation was okay. Her voice could be heard, she talked quite fluently, and she didn't have any cue cards. It was probably one of the good (note: not best) presentation Jasmine managed to pull off.

Next up was Cheryl. She also started off her part of the presentation brightly by smiling. She seemed to be interacting with the audience for her introduction but that soon faded. I could tell she was nervous. Can't blame her. There were 4 assesors, 1 external moderator, and 7 audience staring right at her, and at her only. I would say her actual OP wasn't one of the best she has presented so far. It doesn't mean that it was bad either. It just means she was good, but could have done way better.

Vaani took over the slides after Cheryl. She started off by interacting with the audience by telling them to close their eyes. The assesors were supposed to close their eyes also but they didn't... Her idea of going close to the audience also went down the drain when one of the assesors asked Vaani to move back. I guess Vaani was a little taken aback at this which greatly affected her overall presentation. Vaani's presentation, like Cheryl's, wasn't bad either. She kept on refering to her cue cards and stammered here and there during her part of the presentation.

My part came next. My heart was beating so fast when Vaani went to her final slide. When Vaani said, "Now, I shall pass on the presentation to James..." all the nervousness disappeared. Yeah, I'm "weird" like what many of you think =/. I started my part with just a normal introduction, nothing fancy. As I was going on to my first slide, I glanced at all the assesors and they were like all smiling, giving me the "Just go for it" face etc. It was super encouraging. Throughout my presentation, the assesors kept on nodding for each point I said and I had to make constant eye contact with them to score for my "Awareness of Audience". It was surprising that I didn't refer to my cue cards at all, although I was holding them. My "cheesy" ending was also pulled off quite well, even though it was a last minute thing. "Samsung Electronics, its not that hard to imagine" HAHA! Can't believe I actually said it. All the assesors were laughing/smiling as if they knew that I was Korean and was promoting a Korean brand haha! (Or maybe they really knew =.-)

It was, however, the RTQ (Response to Questions) that killed me. Jasmine, Cheryl, and Vaani were able to answer well for their questions. I blanked out when I heard my question. I kept thinking 'Oh shit, why didn't we cover on that?!' haha because the question was "What would we do to spread the idea of smart homes to the low income people" or something like that. I guess the reason I blanked out was because I was thinking of the answers for the questions my group members were asked haha.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my oral presentation =D. It would have been more encouraging if more people turned up for our OP though. Everyone over slept or couldn't come because they had something else on...

SHUT UP.
